The Indianapolis Colts will be without their rookie quarterback, Anthony Richardson, for the remainder of the NFL season. Colts owner and CEO Jim Irsay revealed on Wednesday that the 21-year-old will need shoulder surgery. Veteran Gardner Minshew will step in to lead the team at the quarterback position. “This effectively concludes his season,” Irsay stated regarding the young player.

“Anthony is a fighter, and we know how difficult and disappointing this is for him and our team. We sought several medical opinions and concluded that this was the best course of action for his long-term health,” said Irsay, who predicts “a promising future” for Richardson.
